IUB/OCA Building in Des Moines
Dean Ibsen - an architect with the Department of Administrative Services, Cary Nagle - an architect with BNIM, and Duane Fournier of the Iowa Utilities Board presented on the construction of the new IUB/OCA building in Des Moines. The presentation covered various features and energy performance measures considered for teh new IUB/OCA building.
The modern facility will house more than 90 employees of the two agencies. It is modeled to consume 62 percent less energy than a typical building that is compliant with the Iowa Energy Code. The building will feature a long list of enrgy efficiency measures highlighted by a geo-thermal heating and cooling system, roof-top solar panel electric production, and maximum use of natural lighting.
